Foothills Rotary Bulletin

Hello Foothills Rotarians,

Happy Election Day!  Please be sure to cast your ballots today either before or after the meeting.  I have a feeling that many of you have already mailed in your ballots ahead of time!  I want to thank Kathe for leading the meeting last week while I was out of town.  I heard the presentation last week was great and I look forward to watching the video when I have a chance.  On our way back from Portugal we spent a day in DC.   While many things were closed due to the Government shutdown, the Memorials were open.   There were a multitude of Honor Flight veterans from the Vietnam War that day from Wisconsin.  Visiting the Vietnam Memorial that day was very moving.  My thoughts quickly went to thinking of our Speaker Joe Castillo who rode his horse to DC, Monty who did an Honor Flight a year ago and others I know that served in Vietnam.   It also made me very proud of all our club has done to honor Veterans.

Today is a very exciting day in that we have our Alumni Lunch.   As of this morning we have 12 RSVP's!  We will take time to have each of the Alumni let us know what they have been up to.  I want to thank Lisa for coordinating this event and all of our members who have reached out to Alumni members to invite them.

Our speaker today will be Karen Estlund who is the Dean of Libraries at Colorado State.   She will be discussing the impact of AI on Higher Education and Cultural Heritage.   I have to imagine that the Library Sciences are one of the industries that has seen more change than any other in the last 30-40 years.

Finally, we have a first reading for Brooke Jostad.  My apologies for not putting this in the bulletin last week.  Brooke has applied for a Virtual Membership and has a lot of interest in assisting with the Win Schindel Fund.   She also happens to be the niece of Scott Woods!
