Friends,
It was a busy week! Several big big thank you's this week are in order. First, to to everyone who volunteered at the Mobile Food Bank Pop-up Pantry. It is bitter sweet to see the need in our community, yet heartening to see how our club and other community volunteers show up to help make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Second, thank you to Lisa Dunne and Co-Big Duck Imran Bhimani for leading an energetic crew of duck sorters last Saturday at the Exodus warehouse (thank you Ilan!). We really quacked those ducks into their correct bins in record time (Lots of quacker jokes). They are now ready for our test run prior to the big Duck Race on September 7th.
Third, thanks to Rich Cress for organizing lunch and our program at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery. It is amazing to have such a resource in our community. Crazy that they average almost 400 visitors every day! Thanks for everyone who attended.
Fourth, this Saturday is the PEACH FESTIVAL! It is finally here. Please encourage all your friends and family to come join us from 11:00-8:00 for a day of music, peach themed beverages...and just lots of fun. There is even a Fleetwood Mac tribute band! Here is the link for more info: https://fortcollinspeachfestival.com/ This is a great fundraiser for the participating FC Rotary clubs!
Lastly, our program next Tuesday the 20th will be back at the Marriott and our speaker will be:
Author Joe Siple: Succeeding with Humility
"I'll talk about my experience being a television sportscaster in the early 2000s, and how it was a "microcosm of celebrity". I didn't handle the success and notoriety as well as I could have, and my relationships suffered. I realized how far I'd fallen when my dad congratulated me on my success but then asked, "Are you being true to yourself?" That question led me to get out of television and become a stay-at-home dad and aspiring novelist. Humility was forced on me when, for the first time in my life, things didn't go as planned. Those two experiences--not handling success as well as I would have liked and then experiencing failure for the first time, have helped me grow into my current situation, where I'm experiencing success with my writing...with humility."
I have recently read one of his books and really enjoyed it.
Have a great weekend and hope to see you Saturday at the Peach Festival.
In Gratitude,
Wynn
