Hi everyone. Since many of us are staying "safer at home", I do hope you were able to get out and enjoy an outdoor pastime. Also did you do a little comet-watching? Here's a pic of Comet Neowise, taken by our own Scott Niedringhaus on his phone. You still have a few nights to see it before it disappears from our sight again for the next 6,800 years.

Our speaker for our noon group meeting this week is Tom Gormley, Author of the novel A Korean War Odyssey- The Story of a Returning Korean War MIA-Cpl Donald Matney joined the Army at 17 and disappeared at the Battle for Taejon, which ended on July 21, 1950, 70 years ago. Learn about his journey and how he was finally brought home to be laid to rest.

Our evening meetings are held every other Tuesday. Right now we're using Zoom to meet. Our next meeting is July 21, 2020 at 5 pm. It's a good way for members to stay in touch and keep up-to-date on what's happening in the club.
If you are able, and not more vulnerable and want to get out and open an opportunity for service, join us for a paint work day with Neighbor to Neighbor this Thursday, July 23, 9 am-noon at 2405 Crabtree in Fort Collins. A Korean War Odyssey - The Story of a Returning Korean War MIA
It is the true story of Cpl. Donald Matney - his exploits and sudden disappearance during the war, and our efforts to locate and bring him home many years later. A small-town Missouri boy, Donnie joins the army at the age of 17 to see the world during peace time and is posted to the good life performing occupational duties in Japan. When the North Koreans attack, he is suddenly thrust into violent combat fighting a better armed and better prepared enemy. A mortarman who never fired a live round, he finds himself lobbing shells at the enemy across the Kum River. He disappears during the battle for Taejon. Over sixty years later, we set out to retrace his journeys. Slowly, carefully we reconstruct the short life of Donald Matney and bring him home to be buried by his mother.
