Steve Martin

My family is the center of my life. I have a wonderful wife, five sons, two great daughters-in-law and one spectacular grandson, all of whom live in Colorado.

When Karen and I were married fourteen years ago we created a fun blended family and an on-going adventure – she had 3 sons and I had 2. Karen is a human resources manager with the Poudre School District. Our sons are: Aaron (and his wife Mandie)– both are physical therapists; Jared (and his wife Erin and our grandson Cole) – Jared is a financial planner, Erin is the operations manager for a non-profit organization which serves troubled youth in Denver; Ryan – a banker with Wells Fargo; Sean – a student at CU who also works at a golf course in Boulder; and Neal – a college student in Denver.

I spent the first 29 years of my life traveling the US – first as an Army “Brat” and then as an Air Force officer. Growing up in the Army, I lived all over the US – living in eighteen different homes before I graduated from High School.

I graduated from High School in northern Virginia and then went to the Air Force Academy, where I graduated with a degree in Computer Science. I spent seven years in the Air Force – mostly working in intelligence technology. During that time I also earned an MBA from Penn State University, home of the Nittany Lions.

After seven years in the Air Force, I decided to try a more “normal” life style and left the service to try my hand in the real world. I went to work for HP in Fort Collins and spent 30 years managing people and projects in almost all aspects of the business – finance, manufacturing, support, training and marketing.

Working in the community has always been an important part of my life. I have served as president of the Fort Collins High School Site-Based management Team for several years, as commissioner of the Fort Collins Soccer Club, as a scout leader and as a director of the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association for six years.

My biggest contribution, however, has been as a coach for youth sports. My first coaching experience was in the 7th grade, when I helped coach my brother’s 4th grade basketball team. Since then I have coached swimming, baseball, basketball and soccer teams – including coaching both swimming and soccer at the highest competitive levels.

Four years ago I decided to follow my dream of helping others achieve their dreams. I started my own Financial Planning firm, Martin Wealth Management, LLC, and now help people integrate their money and their lives. I enjoy helping people to live lives they love and to achieve financial peace of mind. After moving to Fort Collins, I quickly became a CSU fan and now enjoy supporting the Rams throughout the year.

I am excited about being a member of the Foothills Rotary Club and look forward to working actively as part of the club.
