International Exchange (Academic)

MISSION: The foreign exchange committee has been an integral part of Foothills Rotary every year, many years. Our club has hosted students from Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Mexico, and Thailand, to name a few. While we host a student every year, we also send out a student from Fort Collins to one of these other countries. Our interview process helps insure quality students are sent, and our club has benefited greatly from this program. It helps foster international understanding like no other program can, and we are proud to be involved. This year our student will arrive in January, and return in December. The academic year is different in countries south of the equator, so this will be a new experience for us. Our club still needs a couple host families for 2006-2007 year. It is a requirement that participating students attend school in a foreign country for the full academic year.

Chairperson: Linda Vomaske

MEETINGS: Presently this is a one person committee, but there is room for two more: one person to help with interviews, and another to arrange host families.

TIME COMMITMENT: Applications are taken from Sept to Oct. After, there is minimal time coordinating with the district committee. There is always some work to do staying in contact with students, parents teachers. During interview season, there is about 40 hours of work to do, and then there is a couple hours every month.
