JOB TITLE:    Interact Committee Chair

PRIMARY FUNCTION:
To promote the ideals of Rotary to high school students.

RYLA's purpose is to encourage young students to become leaders by sponsoring scholarships to young middle school and high school students to attend a Rotary sponsored leadership camp. Awards are given to those individuals who have submitted applications and completed and interview process and finally selected by the interview board.

Typically, the Senior RYLA (High School Students) meets for one week during July at the YMCA camp in Estes Park. Junior RYLA (7th graders going into 8th grade) meets for one week at a camp in Larkspur. Young RYLA program is four years old, and our club has not yet sponsored any students for this. Positions for the Senior RYLA have been difficult to fill, so I want to reduce the number of sponsorships from four to two, and have our club sponsor two Junior RYLA for the first time. Reports from past RYLA attendees have been nothing but excellent.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To enable year-long exchange students to advance their education by studying for a school year in an environment entirely different from their own and undertaking study courses and subjects not normally available to them in secondary schools of their own country.
