Honoring Our Teachers

The Downtown Rotary Club of Fort Collins initiated the Teacher-of the Month/Year program in 1994. The program was such a success that our Club and the Breakfast Club were invited to participate. Each month during the academic year, each of these three Rotary Clubs selects a teacher for recognition as that Club's Teacher-of-the-Month. The recognized and honored teacher comes to a Club meeting, makes a presentation and receives a plaque that commemorates their recognition from the club.

At the end of the year, a joint committee from the three clubs selects a Teacher of the Year and one or two finalists. The finalists are recognized at a tri-club meeting held in the spring or early fall. At this meeting the Teacher of the Year and the finalists receive another plaque and the Teacher of the Year is also recognized with a Paul Harris Fellow.
2010-2011 Teacher of the Year

The 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year was announced Thursday, September 22, 2011 at a gala celebration and lunch.

Special congratulations are in order for Becky Avery, Fort Collins Rotary Clubs 2010-2011 Teacher of the Year.

2009-2010 Teacher of the Year

The Teacher of the Year for 2009-2010 was announced Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at a gala celebration and lunch.

Finalists were

  • Deanna Franklin from Bauder Elementary
  • Beth Beeken from Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School
  • Judy Oakleaf from Boltz Middle School

Congratulations to Beth Beenkin, the 2010 Teacher of the Year. all the finalists, and all of the Teachers of the Month. Thank you for your service to the young people of our community.
